Photograph of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia (1868-1918), Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna (1899-1918), Prince Vasily Dolgorukov (1868-1918), Franz Juravsky, Tchemodurov, a cook and a number of soldiers at Tsarskoye Selo. The group are standing in a forest around a pile of wood. Nicholas II is standing to the right of the group, his right arm resting on the wood. Grand Duchess Maria, her head shaved after her illness from mumps, is standing beside him to the right.
After his abdication in the spring of 1917 Nicholas II and his family were held at the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoye Selo. In August 1917 they were moved to Tobolsk and then Yekaterinburg where they were killed in May 1918. -
