Royal Collection publications recognised at industry awards
Two Royal Collection publications were recognised at this year’s British Book Design & Production Awards. The awards celebrate ingenuity and creativity in book design and are held annually. A record 450 entries were judged in 15 categories by a panel of industry professionals. Both publications were associated with the exhibition French Porcelain for English Palaces: Sèvres from the Royal Collection at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace. French Porcelain for English Palaces by Joanna Gwilt was ‘Highly Commended’ and the runner-up in the Exhibition Catalogues category. Sir Geoffrey de Bellaigue’s definitive three-volume catalogue raisonné, French Porcelain in the Collection of Her Majesty The Queen was short-listed in the Scholarly, Academic and Reference category. The Royal Collection launched its own imprint in the 1990s. In 2002 it created an inhouse publishing programme to build a definitive series about the Royal Collection and royal residences, written by or in consultation with its own curators. Now well established as one of the world’s most prestigious art publishers, Royal Collection Publications has an impressive backlist and expanding programme of future titles. All profits from the sale of Royal Collection books are dedicated to the Royal Collection Trust. The aim of the publishing programme is to increase knowledge and enjoyment of the Royal Collection and the royal residences through books that are well produced, thoughtfully designed and accessibly written for a wide audience. Amongst a number of eagerly anticipated new titles is Victoria & Albert: Art & Love, a major re-assessment of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as patrons of the arts, published to coincide with the exhibition at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, in March 2010. |
